Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain simple construction and good alignment performance of cables by providing a concave groove and a projecting part on an external member and enabling fastening to be made only through the axial insertion operation. CONSTITUTION:A concave groove 17 engaging an engaging projection 24 provided at the opening end part 22 of an aligning member 18 is provided on the outside circumferential surface of a plug external member 13 and an optical fiber cable 12 aligned to the plug end 11 having a collar 16 is held in the inside and is inserted axially slidably by means of a spring 15. When the external member 13 is inserted into the opening end part 22 of the aligning mechanism external member 18, the plug terminal member 11 is led into an aligning sleeve 19, whereby positioning is accomplished accurately. Further when the external member 13 is pushed in, the projecting part 24 engages with the concave groove 17, and this completes fastening. At this time, the spring 15 provides proper pressure contacting force and buffer action between the other optical device, not shown, inserted into the aligning mechanism external member 18 from its other end.
