Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the dimensional accuracy and working efficiency of castings by providing unidirectional adjusting holes and fitting parts defining the movements in the directions crossing these to a main mold.
CONSTITUTION: Guide pins 5, 6 are fixed to the upper mold at both right and left ends of a main mold 1, and guides 8, 9 provided with guide holes 8', 9' having transverse directivity are secured to a lower mold opposing to these. In the end parts in the front and back directions, either one of main mold edge parts is removed and a guide 4 having a guide hole 4' having unidirectivity (front and back) to the upper mold is secured to the remaining edge part and similarly a guide pin 7 is fixed to the lower die opposing to this. The right and left movements of the guide holes 8', 9' are defined by the guide pin 7' and similarly, the front and back movements are defined by the guide pins 5', 6'. Hence, the right, left, front and back positioning is accomplished by the pins at three points, whereby the deviation of the metal mold is perfectly prevented.
