CONSTITUTION: The voltage detector built in high-voltage generation part 4 detects a high-voltage output and then supplies its detection signal to inverter control part 6 to hold the output voltage constant, and high-frequency inverter circuit 1 is controlled by the output of control part 6 to control the primary side of high-voltage transformer 3. At this time, the secondary side current of transformer 3 is detected by current detector 5, whose detection value is applied to sampling differentiating circuit 7. This circuit 7 detects the increase rate of the current within the sampling time and holding-comparing circuit 8 holds the detected increase rate. Then, circuit 8 compares it to a previously held increase rate and when the increment exceeds the prescribed limit, the operation of circuit 1 is stopped via control prt 6 to prevent spark discharge from occurring.
