Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a power supply device whch is capable of a suitable protection to a fault caused at the load side, by securing a protecting action in case when a fault such as a spark discharge or a short circuit, etc. of the load side continues for a prescribed time or longer. CONSTITUTION:The output of a control circuit 2 is applied to an inverter 3, and a high voltage generated at a boosting transformer 4 by the output of the inverter 3 is changed into a direct current through a rectifying/smoothing circuit 5 to be applied to a load 6. The outputs of an output voltage detecting circuit 8 and an output current detecting circuit 9 are fed back to the circuit 2, and the output to the load 6 is controlled to a constant voltage or constant current. In case when a fault such as a sprak discharge or short circuit occurs at the side of load 6 and the connection point potential of a resistance 82 of the circuit 8 varies to a prescribed level, a switch circuit 10 is turned on to give a start of charging to a time constant circuit 11. When the charging potential of the circuit 11 becomes higher than a prescribed level, the output of the circuit 2 is discontinued to stop the oscillation of the inverter 3.
