Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled agent, capable of promoting the growth of the terrestrial and the subterranean parts of a rice plant seedling much better than single components and improving the character of the seedling and comprising a mixture of a pyroligneous acid and a component extracted therefrom with an acidic substance as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A rearing agent for a good rice plant seedling comprising a pyroligneous acid and a component extracted therefrom with an acidic substance, e.g. sulfur or sulfuric acid, as an active constituent. The rearing agent is mixed with soil before seeding or applied after the seeding. The combined use of the components produces an effect on growth promotion of the subterranean part which is the effect of the pyroligneous acid and an effect on growth promotion of the terrestrial part due to the suitably reduced pH of a bed for rearing a seedling by the action of the acidic substance simultaneously. The growth of a rice plant is remarkably promoted better than that of the single components individually, and the problems of rearing a seedling in the seedling box method are improved. The agent has improved economic efficiency and safety, and is easily handled with a very simple method of use.
