Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a fuel mixed condition in a cylinder, improve an abrut combustion and thus to decrease a combustion noise by a method wherein a pilot injection passage is provided additionally on a plunger of a fuel injector, and a pilot injection is effected thereby in a given timing.
CONSTITUTION: In a state where a plunger 31 is positioned extremely left to keep a suction passage 51 through to a suction port 55 and thus a fuel is sucked in a pressure chamber 18, where the plunger 31 moves rightward as turning according to a cam disc whick is not illustrated herein, the suction passage 51 is interrupted from the suction port 55, and the fuel in the pressure chamber 18 is pressurized. The fuel then pushes a discharge valve 19 open by way of passages 50, 45 and is fed to an injection valve. The fuel in the pressure chamber 18 then simultaneously enters a groove 64 by way of passages 50, 47, annulus groove 48 and passages 58, 57, 59, fed further to the second discharge valve by way of the second discharge port 49 and passage 12 and is finally fed to the second cylinder of an engine for pilot injection.
