Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate an organic carbonate industrially advantageously, by treating specifically an organic carbonate-containing reaction mixture prepared by alkali metal carbonate method.
CONSTITUTION: An organic carbonate [e.g., diethylene glycol bis(allylcarbonate)] is separated from a solution of the mixture of an organic halogenated compound, organic carbonate, and quaternary ammonium salt. In the step, the organic halogenated compound is separated through evaporation from the mixture, the quaternary ammonium salt deposited in the resulting residuary solution is separated from the solution. The catalyst in the reaction can be recovered with ease. Organic carbonate can be produced industrially advantageously by alkali metal carbonate method.
