Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the cooling effect in an AC generator for cars making the cooling air to flow from the low temperature parts to the high temperature parts by a method wherein cooling fans are fixed at both end faces of axial direction of a rotor, and cooling air inlet ports are provided at both end parts of a housing and exhaust ports are provided at the circumferential parts of the housing. CONSTITUTION:A housing 20 of an AC generator for cars is constituted of three parts 21-23, and a stator core 51 is pinched and holded with the parts 21 and 22. Cooling air inlet ports 29, 44 and an opening 37 are formed respectively in the end walls 25, 34, 42 of respective parts of the housing 20, and cooling air exhaust ports 46, 39 are formed respectively in the circumferential wall parts 24, 23 of the housing parts 21, 22. At both end parts of axial direction of a rotor 60, air-flow mixing fans 70 and centrifugal fans 80 are provided respectively at the side of a pulley 56 and at the antipulley side, a part of the cooling air being sucked through the inlet ports 29 is made to be exhausted through the exhaust ports 46 and the remain is made to flow toward the exhaust ports 39 crossing the rotor 60, and the cooling air being sucked through the inlet ports 44 is made to flow toward the exhaust ports 39 passing through the commutator part.
