Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a battery with a high discharge performance which can be easily assembled and maintained, by using a positive active material made of a silver oxide which has not less than a given crystal size per 200 grains. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 1 whose main component is a silver oxide is placed in a positive-electrode can 2. An assembled separator which consists of a micro-film 3, a semipermeable membrane 4 and a liquid-absorbing paper 5 is placed on the positive mixture 1. A negative agent 6 made of zinc powder or the like is packed into a negative terminal-plate 7, and it is placed on the assembled separator. At the same time, a gasket 8 with an L-shaped cross section is interposed between the can 2 and the plate 7 to constitute a hermetically closed battery. The crystal size of the silver oxide used for the positive active material determined by X-ray diffraction is 800Angstrom , and preferably is over 1,000Angstrom per 200 grains. The larger the crystal size per 200 grains, the smaller becomes the absorption of carbon dioxide, and thus the discharge duration time is lengthened.
