Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a timer which can obtain an appropriate fuel injection timing small and to reduce cost by intricately changing a phase of a cam shaft of a fuel injection pump of a Diesel engine and a pump driving shaft of the engine under a constant condition.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine is started, a fly weight 12 of a timer 10 fitted on a cam shaft (not indicated in the figure) of a fuel injection pump receives centrifugal force. When the number of rotation of the cam shaft is increased to enlarge the centrifugal force on the weight 12 and a roller 18 presses a cam face 17 of a timer driving cam 11 resisting a spring 16, a phase of the cam shaft and a pump driving shaft 19 of the engine is changed to make fuel injection timing increasingly fast. Then, when the number of rotation is further increased and a pressing force by the roller 18 on the cam face 17 of the cam 11 becomes larger than the force of the spring 15, the cam face 17 is further pressed and fuel injection timing is further advanced.
