Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve cross modulation characteristics by providing an AGC circuit that starts operation when a large input resulting in the saturation of S/N arrives. CONSTITUTION:In general, S/N of an AM receiver improves according to the intensity of an input signal and, when an input exceeds about 50dB, gets saturated. Then, cross modulation characteristics deteriorate remarkably when an input signal of not less than 50dB arrives. For this purpose, AGC circuit 7 of a different system from conventional AGC circuit 6 is provided. Then, AGC circuit 7 operates for the high-frequency amplifying circuit or input attenuator of the receiver only in arrival of a large input to limit the input level to about 50dB. As a result, S/N maintains its saturation level and cross modulation characteristics never deteriorate even in arrival of the large input.
