Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the time a crane takes to move between given two racks by storing the times the crane takes to move from a rack location to all the remaining racks depending upon a given work schedule in order to instruct a travel to a next rack in the minimized time among them. CONSTITUTION:A stacker crane 1 is adapted to a travel along racks 12 to effect cargo works. Before beginning of a work, a main control means 27 calculates all hours the stacker crane 1 takes to move between every two racks depending upon a work schedule 26 prepared in prior to make a routing table 28. Upon beginning of of the work, the control means 27 begins its controlling operation. The control means 27 accomplishes determination of a shortest route and making of a routing table. After completion of the work, the crane 1 is controlled to always pass the shortest route 29 to effect a subsequent next work, thus minimizing the moving distance between given two racks.
