Abstract

PURPOSE: A microorganism belonging to Corynebacterium or Brevibacterium is cultured to produce L-glutamine.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism that belongs to Corynebacterium or Brevibacterium, has sensitivity to lysozyme and is not affected in the production of L-glutamine by an excess amount of biotin in the culture medium, such as Corynebacterium glutamicum KY-9703 (FERM-4412) or Brevibacterium flavum KY-9733 (FERM- 4414), is inoculated in an enriched culture medium and cultured aerobically. L- glutamine is collected from the culture mixture.
