Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a lustrous chormate coating excellent in corrosion resistance to the zinc or zinc-galvanized material, by using the lustrous chromate-treating liquid obtained by adding the polyacrylamide water-soluble macromolecule to the hexavalent chromium compound which is the main agent. CONSTITUTION:The hexavalent chromium compound, containing 0.1-10g/l CrO3, 0.1-10g/l H2SO4, 5-50g/l HNO3 and 0.2-2g/l fluoride each, produces the main agent in the dilute acid aqueous solution. Then the water-soluble polyacrylamide macromolecule having the hydrolysisrate of 20-80% (particlularly 30- 70%) and the polymerization degree of >=5,000 (particularly 10,000 or so) is added to the above-mentioned aqueous solution by 0.5-5g/l (particularly 0.5-2g/l). Using such chromate-treating solution, a chromate treating is given to the zinc or zinc-galvanized material in the normal method. Then the treated material is immersed in the polyvalent metallic salt aqueous solution of the calcium, magnesium, barium and the like to secure the more stabilized effect.
