Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit folding the frame to a small size while the spectacles are not in use by using the elastically deformable special metal material of the portions of the spectacle frame corresponding to the entire part of the arm and nose or hinges, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Curved portions 4, 5 partly reduced in thickness are disposed to the arms 3 or nose 2. The curved portions 4, 5 are beforehand so determined of the shape, sectional shape, etc. of the curved portions so that they readily deform in the curving direction and are difficult to curve in the opposite direction. The alloy composed primary of Ni-Ti intermetallic compounds is used for the curved portions. This material has the characteristic called pseudoelastic effect and has a high level of life for repetitive bening operations so that it will not cause any deformation failure and breakage owing to fatigue at all within a practicable use range. The use of such special metal material permits folding of the spectacle frame to a small size without using hinges and the like while it is not in use.
