Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce colored film of a beautiful primary color, by carrying out AC electrolytic treatment in a prescribed acidic soln. between a film-forming process by anodic oxidation of aluminum and an electrolytic coloring process in metallic salt soln.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. contg. one or more members among sulfuric acid, nitric acid, oxalic acid, sulfamic acid, and ammonium hydrogensulfate is used for the AC electrolytic treatment which is adopted between the conventional film- forming process by anodic oxidation and the electrolytic coloring process. In addition, other org. acid, inorg. acid, or salts of these acids are sometimes added. The concn. of the bath is about 5W50g/l for sulfuric acid, nitric acid, depending upon the conditions. the AC electrolysis is performed preferably at about 30W70°C bath temp. for several tens seconds to about ten minute. The coloration, e.g., in blue, yellowish green, violet, greenish color depends upon the AC electrolysis conditions, i.e., variation of AC electrolysis time with the composition, concn., temp. of the AC treatment bath or voltage etc. kept at suitable conditins allows to select desired color.
