Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to record and reproduce in high output for vertical magnetizing recording signal, by providing the high permeability part on the magnetic recording medium such as magnetic tape and magnetic disc to form the closed magnetic path of magnetic head-recording medium-high permeability section.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium 3 such as magnetic tape, magnetic disc, and magnetic drum is constituted with the three layer construction of the magnetic layer 4 made of high coercive force magnetic material such as iron oxide, high permeability layer 5 made of high permeability and low coercive force material such as permalloy, and support layer for support. Further, when the magnetic head core 1 of U-shaped type made of high permeability material is located near the magnetic recording medium 3, the closed magnetic path having the direction of arrows 8, 10, 9, 11 through the magnetic head 1-magnetic layer 4-high permeability layer 5 is formed. Thus, the leakage magnetic flux is less, high magnetic flux is obtained in the magnetic head, and sufficient output can be obtained even with increased line density.
