PURPOSE:To manufacture an antenna with the radio-wave beam directivity improved by shortening the wavelength in a waveguide-shaped dielectric by forming a metal film around the dielectric by vapor deposition or plating. CONSTITUTION:On the entire circumferential surface of dielectric 1 whose sectional shape depends upon dielectric constant epsilonr and in-use frequency (f), thin metal film 2 is formed to a fixed thickness by vapor deposition or plating. Further, the entire circumferential surface of thin film 2 is coated with photoresist 5. So that parts 5a that correspond to slots 4 will permit light to pass through them, film 6 is arranged on the antenna radiation surface and part 5a of photoresist 5 is exposed from above. Next, film 6 is taken out and exposed part 5a of resist 5 is dissolved in developing solution 7. Further, a thin metal film part appearing at the surface from part 5a is dissolved by etching solution 8. This dissolved part, therefore, corresponds to slot 4. Then, the whole body is moded with molding material 3. This method attains the manufacture of a desired antenna only by replacing the film.
