Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the capacity of an electric motor as well as the size of a feed mechanism by a method wherein a hydraulic cylinder for auxiliary pressurizing is provided at a ram guide portion for a ram which is screw-fed by an electric motor.
CONSTITUTION: With a feed screw 17 rotated by an electric motor SM2 through gears 20, 19, a force-in ram 15 guided by a guide bar 22 is moved either upward or downward. In the case where an auxiliary force is obtained at the time of lowering of the ram 15, with a solenoid selector valve 52 opened and with a pressure P2 generated in an oil chamber 45, a piston 35 moves upward to clamp a collet 38, so that a piston 34 is connected with the ram 15 through a clutch. In this condition, with a pressure P1 generated in an oil chamber 42 by a solenoid selector valve 50, the piston 34 moves downward to provide an auxiliary force for the lowering of the ram 15.
