Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the gas absorption capability and the resistance to external force in preparing the gas absorbing element from laminated flat sheet and corrugated sheet by a method wherein fine wave patterns are given to these sheets to increase the surface area. CONSTITUTION:Fine wave patterns are given in the width direction of the sheet of a carbon fiber-mixed paper made of an active carbon fibers, pulp, synthetic pulp, and glass fibers. The flat sheet 1 and the corrugated sheet 2, both using the above sheets, are bonded together and formed into one-side corrugated body 4 having small throughholes 3. The body 4 is wound around a core 5 several times and formed into a cylindrical element. By the use of this element, the effective area of gas absorption is increased to about 1.1-1.5 times and the resistance to unexpected external force is increased because of the contraction and expansion property of the sheet itself.
