Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the shearing force strong enough to cut a thick and long high- temperature steel piece such as continuous casting slab into a fixed size by adopting a screw system instead of a hydraulic system and thereby simplifying the structure in a down-and-up cut method.
CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic balance cylinder 15 is arranged in the front and rear on an upper frame 2, while the tip of a piston rod extending from the piston of the cylinder downward into a machine frame is fitted pivotally to the connection bar 17 of a C-shaped frame 16.
