Abstract
PURPOSE:To make easy the replacement of the roll unit, by putting the roll unit into the U-type frame made of thick steel plate, by rigidly setting the screw for adjusting the roll gap of this roll unit to the open mouth of the frame, and by bearing the force of hydrostatic pressure of the molten steel for continuously casting the billet, and the reaction force against the straightening work, at the center of the frame. CONSTITUTION:In the second cooling zone of the bending part of the bending type continuous casting apparatus, the billet guide roll stand 1 is constituted of the U-type frame 4 made of heavy thick steel plate, the lower roll unit 6 put in the hollow space 5 of the frame 4, the upper roll unit 7, and the screw 8. Since the screw 8 is fixed to the frame 4, even if the force of hydrostatic pressure of the unsolidified molten steel within the continuously cast billet, or the reaction force against the straightening work, is loaded on the screw 8, the force is born by the center of the frame 4, and besides, the force is turned into the bending stress in the direction of pathway of the billet and the tensile stress of the frame 4. Moreover, since the frame 4 is made of heavy thick steel plate, the strength is great, and the weight of the frame 4 can be reduced as compared with the conventional block type, and the replacement of upper and lower roll units can be easily worked.
