Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recorder of high reliability by controlling the phase of the charging signal through the use of a detection signal, in the titled method wherein droplets are selectively charged and the flying direction of the droplets is deflected for recording. CONSTITUTION:Ink pressurized by a pressurizing means 1 is passed through a conduit 2 and an electromechanical transducer 4 to an ink jet nozzle 3, and jetted as ink droplets 6 from an orifice 5 at the tip end of the nozzle 3. Simultaneously with the charging of the ink droplets 6 by a combined charger and droplet detector 7, the induction charge amount due to the charged ink droplets is detected by a droplet detection controller 15, and the timing signal of a charging signal source 14 is controlled so that it is in phase with an exciting signal source 13 controlling the electromechanical transducer 4 forming the ink droplets. Accordingly, an ink jet recording hardly affected by the change in environmental conditions of printing is achieved.
