Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide highly adhesive copper plating by a method wherein a metal material is underplated with nickel, immersed into acidic copper sulfate solution to remove surface oxide layer, then copper electroplating is applied in copper sulfate plating bath.
CONSTITUTION: Wire, tube, or belt material 1 consisting of iron or steel is formed into spiral, and is supported from the inside by a rotating support roller 2. Current is supplied from feed brushes 3 to the parts and the parts are rotated by rotating the roller. The parts, while being supported by pitch guide 4, moves toward the right side, with the specified pitch. The lower part of the parts is pretreated by being sequentially dipped into an alkalielectrolysis degreasing-tank 5, a water-washing tank 6, an acid washing tank 7, and a water washing tank 8, then in a nickel plating tank 9 underplating is applied. The parts go through an acidic copper sulfate liquid tank 11 where surface oxide layer is removed, then rather thick plating is applied in a copper sulfate plating tank 12. The composition of the acidic copper solution and copper plating bath is nearly the same, and contains copper sulfate in 190 to 240g/l with sulfuric acid of 55 in 100g/l.
