Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely remove molten zinc from the one surface of steel strip on which a plating preventive agent is applied by a method wherein a high-temperature gas is jetted at the cross surface of the plating preventive surface and plating bath when the steel strip is pulled up. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 1 discharged from a heat treatment furnace is passed through an atmospheric gas seal chute 4, enters into molten zinc plating bath 2 in a plating tank 5, changes its direction by sink roller 3,and is discharged outside the plating tank 2. The outer surface of the steel strip 1 is plated with molten zinc; the surface 10 to which a plating preventive agent is applied is deposited with molten zinc corresponding to the surface protruvions and concavities. Near the area A where the plating preventive agent coated surface 10 emerges from the surface of plating bath 9, flame 8 from a wiper 9 heats the B area of the plating bath surface. This makes the plating bath more fluid at this area. By said fluid, high-temperature plating bath and thrust of the flame 8, deposited molten zinc on the plating preventive coated surface 10 is dripped from the coated surface 10 to the plating bath 2, and thereby prevents loss of the plating zinc.
