Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve resolution as a linear image sensor by arranging several photodetectors at the assembly part of an optical method while their photodetection surfaces arrayed in a plane shape are titled at a fixed angle to an image puikup axis perpendicular to the movement direction. CONSTITUTION:Photodetectors 22-1-24-2 are arrayed in a plane shape to obtain two-dimensional image sensor 21. This two-dimensional image sensor 21 is arranged at the assembly part of an optical method being at angle theta to the x axis as the scanning axis. Then when two-dimensional sensor 21 moves in the y-axial direction and reaches the position shown by dotted lines, the center position of photodetector 23-1, for example, passes on a point Yp.sintheta away from the position which was the center of photodetector 22-1, attains image pickup at this point. Similarly, when two- dimensional image sensor 21 moves to the position shown by roughly-dotted lines, photodetector 24-1 passes on a point Yp.sintheta away to perform image pickup at this point.
