Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep a good combustion state constantly even if the nature of waste changes by finding out the position of flame combustion on a fire grate with an optical range finding device and controlling the driving speeds of the fire grates or the quantity of air supplied to the fire grates. CONSTITUTION:Waste is supplied to a feed hopper 18 uniformly by a certain amount and proceeds slowly on a supply feeder 19. Next, the waste is dried on a drying fire grate 20, burns in flames on a combustion fire grate 21 and then burns in embers on a combustion fire grate 22. In this case, a distance detector 1 to measure a distance L1 between a flame and the detector 1 is attached to a peep window in the front wall of the incinerator, and the output of the detector is transmitted to an air quantity distribution controller 4 and a fire grate speed controller 9 via a signal converter 2 and an amplifier 3. The controller 4 changes the distribution percentages of air quantity distributing dampers 5-8 based on the value of the distance L1. The controller 9 is operated to control the driving speeds of fire grate driving devices 10-13 appropriately.
