Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve fuel consumption and reduce NOx by directing a pilot injection of an auxiliary injection valve towards a spot close to a nozzle hole of a main injection valve.
CONSTITUTION: A precombustion chamber block 2 stands across a cylinder head 1 towards a main combustion chamber 3. A precombustion chamber 4 formed in the precombustion chamber block 2 is connected to the main combustion chamber 3 by a passage 5. The precombustion chamber 4 has a main injection valve 6, an auxiliary injection valve 7 and a glow plug 8. A nozzle hole 9 of the main injection valve 6 is directed to the passage 5 and a nozzle hole 10 of the auxiliary injection valve 7 is faced to a spot close to the nozzle hole 9 of the main injection valve 6. In a diesel engine designed above, first, the auxiliary injection valve 7 ejects fuel as a pilot injection to form a spark zone C near the nozzle hole 9. Next, the main injection valve 9 performs main injection through said sprak zone C. Ignition delay of main injection fuel and NOx can be reduced by abrupt combustion.
