Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the irregular operation of the thermosensitive valve by a method wherein a thermowax element installed in the thermosensitive valve for controlling a flow of engine cooling system is thermally insulated from a cooling water in a radiator and further operated positively in response to a desired water temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The thermosensitive valve 10 is constructed such that a thermo expansive substance 28 such as wax is enclosed therein, its expansion causes a rubber piston 25 and its associated needle 27 to be pushed, the thermowax element 21 is moved under a reaction force for pushing a bridge member 32, thereby an opening and closing valve 19 is pushed open so that a circulation passage between a cooling water outlet 8 from the radiator 6 and the passage 9a is made to be open. The thermosensitive valve 10 is operated only in response to a temperature sensing of the cooling water from a short circuited passage 11, and a thermo expansion substance 28 is thermally insulated by a thermo insulator material 33 so as not to be thermally sensed by the cooling water fed from the radiation means. Thus, a positive thermosensitive valve may be provided which is not influenced by a surrounding air temperature or water temperature in the radiator.
