Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled composition which cures into a product having a strong rubber/ resin adhesion and excellent creep properties, prepared by adding, to a rubber, a specific novolak phenolic resin and a curing agent for the resin.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of (A) natural rubber, polyisoprene rubber, styrene/ butadiene copolymer rubber or a blend rubber therebetween, are added 20W 130pts.wt. of (B) carbon black having an iodine adsorption of 40W130mg/g and a dibutyl phthalate absorption of below 130mg/100g, below 50pts.wt. of (C) a novolak type modified phenolic resin prepared by modifying a phenolic resin with below 50pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of phenol components, of a diene type liquid rubber having a number-average MW of 500W50,000 and (D) a curing agent for the resin, such as hexamethylenetetramine or paraformaldehyde.
EFFECT: The composition is used suitably as a bead filler for high internal pressure tires.
