Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit setting of the pressure of arbitrary intermediate values and make operation easy by providing one piece of a platelike pressure setting weight slidably, and moving the centroid position thereof thereby making the pressure to be exerted upon test pieces adjustable. CONSTITUTION:The friction testing machine is so arranged that the 2nd test piece 23 is first mounted in order to mount the 1st, 2nd test pieces 22, 23 to the 1st, 2nd holding materials 1, 2, and that in this state a balance weight 12 is moved to the right and left in a manner that a balance rod 9 attains a horizontal state, whereby the balance is taken. The setting of the presscontacting force between the 1st and 2nd test pieces 22 and 23 is accomplished by matching a prescribed scale to an index 19. All required after matching of the scale to the prescribed value is just to fix a pressure setting weight 20 to a fulcrum shaft 17 by rotating a fixing ring 21, and the 2nd test piece 23 is put in press contact with the 1st test piece 22 under presribed pressure by the weight 20 via a spindle 3.
