Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled treating material suitable for the treatment of waste water containing floating oil, etc., especially containing emulsified oil, by adding an absorbent for surface active agents to a composition obtained by mixing, crosslinking, and crushing a polymer and an inorganic filler in the presence of a crosslinking agent.
CONSTITUTION: The objective treating material is prepared by mixing, preventing the further pulverization of the components, (A) a composition obtained by mixing (a) 100pts.wt. of a crosslinkable polymer such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and (b) 5W250pts.wt. of an oil-absorbing inorganic filler such as MgO, in the presence of a crosslinking agent such as dicumyl peroxide, with an extruder, and crosslinking and crushing the mixture, and (B) 10W900pts.wt., based on 100pts.wt. of the component (A), of an absorbent insoluble in water and oils and capable of absorbing a surface active agents (pref. the bulk density of the (B) component is ≤5 times that of (A); preferable examples of (B) are granular activated charcoal, ion exchange resin, etc.).
