Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the effective extrusion rate, to improve the accuracy of moving parts, and to simplify the mechanism of apparatus, by fixing the relative position of a container and a pressing stem while operating the extrusion work, and by adding the container-moving force to the extrusion force through the pressing stem. CONSTITUTION:In a press stand of a rahmen structure, a container-moving cylinder 11 is arranged at a diagonal position against a plus platen 1 and is fixed therein; a piston 12 of this cylinder 11 is then connected to a container holder 19. A hydraulic coupling cylinder 9 is fixed at a diagonal position against a cross-head 6; a piston 10 of the cylinder 9 is connected to the container holder 19. When a billet 27 is extruded through a die of a die stem 24, if the pressure oil is not supplied to the hydraulic coupling cylinder 9, the container-moving force is added to the extrusion force through the billet 27. If the pressure oil is supplied to the cylinder 9, the container-moving force is added to the extrusion force through a pressing stem 21.
