Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve transitional operation properties by a method wherein feedback control is stopped and a poor mixture is supplied during a low load operation of the engine while the air to fuel ratio is suddenly reduced and thereafter it is brought close to the logical air to fuel ratio when the low load operation is shifted to a feedback control operation again.
CONSTITUTION: Air bleed conduits 16, 30 are connected to a main fuel nozzle 10 provided in a small venturi 9 and a slow port 25 provided at the vicinity of a throttle valve 7 respectively. Proportional actuators 17, 31 are connected to the conduits 16, 30 respectively and the air to fuel ratio is controlled by controlling these actuators with a computer 24 in accordance with the output of an exhaust sensor 40. Here, the computer 24 opens respective actuators 17, 31 to increase the amount of the bleed when the low load operation time excluding an idling time is detected by the outputs of negative pressure switches 62, 66 and an idling switch 65, on the other hand, when the low load operation time is shifted to the normal feedback operation time, the computer reduces the air to fuel ratio suddenly and thereafter brings it close to the logical air to fuel ratio value gradually.
