Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect shapes of various bodies with simple and inexpensive constitution by detecting continuously the position of a spotlight, scanning on an objective body in a constant direction, in the scanning direction and perpendicular direction. CONSTITUTION:A parallel beam from light source 11, such as a laser, is reflected by fixed mirror 12 and rotary mirror 13 to scan on objective body 1 in direction X. The reflected light forms an image on light position sensor 16 via lens 15. Light position sensor 16 converts the position of the light into electric signals with respect to directions X and Y2. For the detection of V-shaped groove 1a, for example, peak- value timing detecting circuit 20 detects the timing of the generation of the peak signal of signal Y and drives sample holding circuit 21, which receives signal X as an input, to fetch and output X-directional position X0 of V-shaped groove 1a. This operation is repeated for every scan to detect position X0 of the V-shaped groove continuously. Thus, shapes of various bodies are detected with the simple and inexpensive constitution.
