Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the cold rollability, cold workability and to enhance the easiness for galvanization of a low-carbon killed hot rolled steel plate by regulating the N and B contents of the plate to a specified range when the plate is manufactured from a continuously cast slab.
CONSTITUTION: When a hot rolled steel plate for cold rolling is manufactured from killed steel by a continuously casting method, the steel is adjusted to a composition contg. 0.03W0.10% C, ≤0.03% Si, 0.10W0.35% Mn, 0.005W0.06% sol. Al, ≤0.0045% N and 0.001W0.003% B, and the B and N contents are regulated so as to satisfy the relation of N%-0.0025≤B%≤N%. Thus, in spite of killed steel the hot rolled steel plate is made equal to that of rimmed steel in cold rollability, and it has superior galvanizing propertied after cold rolling.
