Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of creasing on the inside surface of a cast iron pipe and improve its inside casting surface by spraying a low m.p. flux over the entire surface of molten metal immediately after pouring the molten metal into a centrifugal casting mold.
CONSTITUTION: Like in an ordinary method, the molten metal in a ladle 3 is poured into a mold 1 through a trough 2. At this time, immediately after the pouring of the molten metal, the low m.p. flux 7 in a tank 5 is fed smoothly and continuously into a pipe 4 by an air nozzle 6 for preventing scaffolding. Further, the flux 7 in the pipe 4 is ejected by an air pipe 8 from the end of the pipe 4 opening at the end of the trough 2. It is evenly and uniformly sprayed over the entire surface of the molten metal right after pouring into the mold 1, whereby the generation of creasing in the inside surface of cast iron pipe is reduced.
