Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize an optical frequency discriminator and improve its vibration-resistant stability and temp. stability by combining a Fabry-Perot resonator consisting of a single mode optical fiber and an optical branching circuit of a dividing ratio 1:1 in constituting said discriminator. CONSTITUTION:A fiber 9 for signal input is taken out by a 50% transmittance dielectric multilayered film 12 at a 45 deg. incident angle, is connected to fibers 9', 9'' to constitute a branching circuit of a dividing ratio 1:1, and similarly, fibers 10, 10', 10'' also constitute a branching circuit of 1:1. The fiber 9' is connected to the optical fiber, Fabry-Perot interferometer 11 of which both ends are vapor-deposited with dielectric multilayer films 14, 15 of high reflectivities after having been optically polished. The transmission power of the optical fiber, Fabry-Perot interferometer 11 is measured with a detector 16, whilist the reference light from the fiber 10' is measured of light power with a detector 17. The outputs of both these detectors 16, 17 are conducted to a differential amplifier 8, by which the discrimination of the light frequency is accomplished from the output thereof.
