Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to accurately detect the position of a jam of paper by a simple construction wherein paper detectors are provided in a printing and carrying line so as to detect the head and tail ends of paper.
CONSTITUTION: A zone I comprises a printing mechanism PR, the second paper detector PH2 and a detector JM1 for detecting the jam of paper occurring between the mechanism PR and the paper detector PH2. On the other hand, a zone II comprises the second paper detector PH2, the first paper detector PH1 and a detector JM2 for detecting the jam of paper occurring between the two paper detectors PH2 and PH1. When the paper is fed in accordance with the reception of a signal, pulses for detecting the arrival of the paper and the departure of the tail end of the paper are generated through a delay circuit (not shown) and an exclusive OR circuit (not shown), and signals are obtained from the detectors PH1, PH2 to measure time.
