Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect abnormal conditions such as a longitudinal tear of a conveyor belt and a slip-off at a joint portion and to prevent accidents due to such troubles by embedding a reference signal member in an adequate portion of the conveyor belt.
CONSTITUTION: First, second,...detection signal members 5 are embedded in a conveyor belt 4 at predetermined intervals, and a reference signal member 6 is embedded in front of the first signal member 5. Close to the belt 4 is arranged a signal sensor 7, of which the output is transmitted to a detector 8. The sensor 7 is split along the width of the belt 4 into three parts, for example, and signals aWc are transmitted to a peak value measuring circuit 13 through an amplifier circuit 12 when the signal member 5 has passed by the sensor 7. The output of the circuit 13 is stored in a memory circuit 15; similar outputs corresponding to the second or later runs of the belt 4 are compared with the memorized output in a comparison circuit 16, and alarm circuit 17 is operated on the occurrence of an abnormal condition.
