Abstract

PURPOSE:To repress charge density due to various harmful charging to the minimum, and to prevent deterioration of an image, by providing a charge neutralization device on the cource along which an intermediate transfer material passes from the secondary transfer point to a primary transfer point in order to eliminate the charge of the intermediate transfer material. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic latent image formed on charge retaining drum 2 in section 1 for forming an electrostatic latent image is converted into a toner image with developing device 3, this image is primarily transferred to intermediate transfer belt 11 by pressing it with transfer roller 12, then drum 2 rotates further through cleaning device, and a destaticizer, and reused for the next process. On the other hand, belt 11 subjected to the primary transfer turns to the secondary transfer section, the image is further transferred to transfer material 16, belt 11 is destaticized by contacting it with metallic rollers 181, 182 of destaticizer 18, and the charge density is dropped at least to a harmless degree.
