Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for facilities for supplying oxygen and form an enzyme electrode of a small size by providing electrodes and an enzyme film on one side of a porous substrate and providing a hydrophobic treatment film which allows the permeation of oxygen on the other side (the side in contact with the liquid to be measured). CONSTITUTION:Anode 21 and cathode 23 consisting of gold are disposed on one side of a porous substrate (e.g. a substrate consisting of aluminum sintered body) 24 by way of an electrolyte supporting part 22 (symbols 20a, 20b are lead wires thereof respectively), and an enzyme fixing film 26 is formed thereon. On the other hand, a hydrophobic treatment film (e.g. silicone rubber coated film ) 25 which allows the permeation of oxygen but prohibits the permeation of the liquid to be measured is provided thereon, whereby the enzyme electrode is formed.
