Abstract
PURPOSE:To simultaneously expose, develop and etch both sides of a substrate having display electrodes on both sides for a display cell provided with a plurality of laminated display layers, when the electrodes are patterned, by forming the substrate with a transparent material obtd. by doping a transparent substrate with an ultraviolet absorber. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the manufacture of substrate 1 having electrodes on both sides for the two-layer display device with liq. crystal 7 sealed among three substrates 1, 3, 5, electrically conductive transparent films 2, 2 of SnO2 or the like are formed on both sides of transparent glass sheet B doped with an ultraviolet absorber, and photoresist 8, 8 is applied to the surfaces of film 2, 2 and irradiated with ultraviolet rays shown by the broken line arrows through masks 9a, 9a each having a predetermined pattern. After developing photoresist 8, 8, films 2, 2 are etched simultaneously to form display electrodes 2a, 2a, 2b, 2b. Thus, the number of working processes can be reduced, resulting in a lower cost.
