Abstract

PURPOSE: A vulcanization accolerator of delayed action, not scorching when worked at a hith temp., which comprises bis(4-methyl-benzothiazolyl-2)disulfide or bis(4,5- dimethyl-benzothiazolyl-2)disulfide.
CONSTITUTION: Bis(4-methyl-benzothiazolyl-2) disulfide or bis(4,5-dimethyl-benzothiazolyl-2) disulfide is used as a vulcanization accelerator. It is adequate to compound 0.1W5pts.wt. of the compd. with 100pts.wt. rubber. The resulting mixt. can be molded after kneaded at a temp. of 70W200°C, which is near the vulcanization temp. Although the compound may be used alon for rubber, vulcanization is more markedly accelerated by combined use with diphenylguanidine, etc. A rubber vulcanized by the compd. is excellent in vulcanization characteristics such as tensile strength and elongation as compared with the one vunlcanized by another accelerator.
