Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable realization of the close contact between a grid and an active material, by making pinlike crystals to be deposited on the punched surfaces of the grid. CONSTITUTION:A lead alloy sheet 3 sent from a spool 1 undergoes stamping by means of a stamping press metal mold 2, thus grid holes being formed. The sheet 3 is passed between rollers 8 and 8', to which a water repellent oily agent is applied, to make the oily agent to be applied to both surfaces of the sheet 3. After that, the sheet 3 is immersed in an electrolyzer 4 containing a cathode reducing liquid 5 in which a water-soluble lead compound such as a lead nitrate or a lead acetate is dissolved. Within the electrolyzer 4, the sheet 3 undergoes cathode reduction by means of an electric current, in which the sheet 3 works as a negative pole and a counter-pole 6 made of pure lead works as a positive pole, and thereby pure lead of the counter-pole 6 migrates to and is deposited on the punched surfaces on which water repellent treatment is not performed.
