Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the absorption efficiency of gas and save driving power by controlling the sizes of spraying particles of absorbing liquid according to gas concentrations in spraying the gas absorbing liquid from spray nozzles.
CONSTITUTION: Nozzle headers are provided to an upper stage 20, a middle stage 21 and a lower stage 22 within an absorption tower 9, and are so arranged that particles of 800W1,500μm coarse grains are sprayed from the nozzles 20B of the upper stage, those of 500W800μm fine grains from the nozzles 21B of the middle stage and those of 100W500μm micro-particles from the nozzle 22B of the lower stage. A gas concn. detector 24 is provided to the inlet 18 of the tower, and the signal of this detector 24 is sent to a control means 26 which controls the flow rate control valves 20A, 21A, 22A of the spray headers of the respective stages, so that the amount of the absorbent from a tank 13 is controlled. For example, when the gas concn. is low, the control means 26 closes the upper stage control valve 20A, thereby making the microparticle atmosphere of a high specific surface area from the middle stage nozzles 21B and the lower stage nozzles 22B. Thereby, absorption efficiency is enhanced, and the driving power is decreased as well.
