PURPOSE:To prevent wrapping of a copying paper on the roller of a heat roller fixing device and prevent clogging of the paper by operating a developing device after the leading tip of an electrostatic latent image has passed the developing part thereby forming a nondeveloping part in the leading tip part of the copying paper. CONSTITUTION:When a photoreceptor 2 rotates clockwise and the reference point C which is the leading tip part of an electrostatic latent image has arrived at the position of CI, the image is projected in alignment to the leading tip of an original by the projection from an optical device. When the reference point C has arrived at the position CIII after it has passed the position CII corresponding to the developing part of a developing device 9, a rotation signal is applied to the developing device 9, so that developing is started from this part. Hence, the part between the positions CII- CIII is a nondeveloping area of copying paper P, and is sent out in a white state. As a result, the copying paper will not wrap on the roller of the roller fixing device, hence paper clogging is prevented.
