Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the manufacturing process of an air cleaner, by forming end plates to be made of a hard material and projected sealing portions to be made of a material having a certain clasticity in a unitary manner, and fixing an inner sleeve and filter paper to the end plates by use of no adhesive agent.
CONSTITUTION: There is prepared a mold 1 which is formed with an annular groove 3 having a small width in the bottom of an annular recess 2 having a width slightly larger than that of a pleated filter paper 7, and soft polyurethane 4 is poured into the annular groove 3. Then, the polyurethane 4 is heated and foamed for forming a sealing portion 8. Here, hard polyurethane 5 is poured into the annular recess 2 before the foamed polyurethane 4 is hardened completely, for forming an end plate 9 by heating and foaming the hard polyurethane 5. Subsequently, one ends of the filter paper 7 and an annular inner sleeve 6 prefabricated in a required form are inserted into polyurethane 5 and fixed in place before the polyurethane 5 is hardened after foaming. Thereafter, an element is completed by forming similar sealing portion 8 and end plate 9 on the other side of the inner sleeve 6.
