Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably maintain the desulfurization rate of waste gas by heating and regenerating an adsorbent using semi-coke while moving the same in a regenerating tower from above to below, and monitoring the residual content of SO2 in the adsorbent withdrawal from the tower at all times.
CONSTITUTION: The supply and withdrawal of the adsorbent into and from an adsorption tower 10 are accomplished by conveyors 102, 103, and the supply and withdrawal into and from a regenerating tower 20 by conveyors 105, 106. The greater part of the sulfuric acid sticking on the adsorbent in the process that the adsorbent descends slowly in the tower 20 is decomposed and the gas contg. SO2 produced is sent through a conduit 22 into a treating device. The withdrown adsorbent is removed of powdery material in a classifier 107 and is returned into the tower 10. The fresh adsorbent is supplied from a conduit 50. The adsorbent withdrown from the classifier 107 is analyzed in an analyzer 108 for solid sulfur at every fixed time, whereby the residual content of SO2 is measured. This analyzed value is compared with a set value in an operator 110, and when it exceeds the set value, the conveyors 102 and 103 as well as 105 and 106 are controlled according to the difference thereof.
