Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the following performance, by setting the intermediate value between the mean value and the minimum value of the video signal within a processing region as the threshold value and at the same time setting the intermediate value between the 2nd mean value obtained newly for the signals under the 1st threshold value and the minimum value respectively. CONSTITUTION:The A-D converter 19 quantizes the analog video signal supplied from the pickup device 12. The picture memory circuit 20 stores the quantized video signal through a circuit in the region designated by the processing region setting circuit 15. The mean value calculating circuit 21 uses the signal of the circuit 20 as an input to obtain the mean value AVE1 of the video signal as well as the mean value AVE2 of the video signal less than the threshold value. The MAX/MIN value detecting circuit 22 detects both the MIN value VMIN and the MAX value VMAX of the video signal, and the ALU circuit 23 performs these arithmetic operations to obtain the threshold values VTH1 and VTH2. the voltage comparator 24 compares the quantized video signal quantized in the above-mentioned processing region and the value VTH2 obtained at the ALU circuit 23. Thus the target signal can be extracted.
